2018 Summary of Events

The 2018 Independence Day Breakfast on the Beach and the Boat Parade took place on a beautiful Saturday, July 7th, and were a big success. We will be posting photos taken by Linda Johnson in our Image Gallery soon, and be sure to see the above video of the Boat Parade made by Justin Hinds.

The Yard Sale held on Saturday, July 14th, was also a big success. Thanks to all the volunteers and to Rowells for letting us use their property.

At the Annual Meeting on August 4th, Mark Lorenze, who is retiring as WLA President, was recognized for his nine years of service in that capacity. The new president is Val Perkins, and Joan Ingersoll is joining the Board of Directors as Secretary. The Minutes of the 2018 WLA Annual Meeting are available here..

The Food Drive and Ice Cream Social was held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Steadman Pavilion from 2-4 p.m. It was a fun time for Webster Lake residents to socialize. The food and leftover ice cream was delivered to the Twin Rivers Interfaith Food Pantry. They were very appreciative as they are open Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Wednesday evenings for people in need. The cash was given to the Bread and Roses Soup Kitchen. They were also very appreciative; money is used to purchase food used in preparing meals for their Monday and Thursday dinners.

Milfoil. Treatment of the invasive plant Eurasian Milfoil took place in June 2018 and has been extremely successful. Results will be posted when available.

Recycling. Sadly, the city of Franklin has had to discontinue recycling due to the extreme increase in the cost of this process. The city remains hopeful that we will be able to be able to restart recycling in the near future.

WLA has a Twitter account. Websterlakenh is the username. We will use it to get alerts or important notifications out.

Little Free Libraries
The Webster Lake Association sponsors two Little Free Library containers from June 15th until September 15th each year, which include adult and children’s literature. Take a book or leave a book. One library box at the Steadman Pavilion and another at 75 Webster Avenue. Many thanks to Laurie Brothers for coordinating this effort.
