Officially Spring! 2023

Hi Everyone,

Spring has arrived and the countdown to Ice Out has begun! The bob houses have been removed from the lake and water is appearing around the shoreline. That being said the forecast is calling for some snow tomorrow!! It has been a strange winter for sure and I am looking forward to seeing the sunshine glisten on the water of our beautiful lake 🙂

The WLA Board of Directors had a meeting on February 16th, via Zoom. It was determined the revision of the WLA Bylaws with regard to membership and voting rights will be left as originally stated in the bylaws and not revised to include property owners in the Webster Lake Watershed. A new copy of the bylaws with minor revisions highlighted in red will be written and available for review prior to our annual meeting in August. This issue caused a lot of discussion at last year’s annual meeting and the board determined it was not favorable to adopt the revision.

The dates for WLA summer activities were finalized and are as follows:

  • WLA Clean Up Days – Sunday, May 28th, July 16th, Oct 9th.
  • WLA Boat Parade – Saturday, July 2
  • WLA Yard Sale – Saturday, July 15th
  • WLA Ice Cream Social/Food Drive – Saturday, Sept 2nd

These dates will appear in the WLA Spring Newsletter but I thought you might like a heads up. If you would like to participate in the WLA Clean Up dates, please email Kim Bonin at kim@boninarchitects.com.

If anyone would like to chair the WLA Yard Sale, I am looking for volunteers 🙂 Please contact me.

The Lagace Beach Boat Launch is making more steps forward. The City was given approval from DES and a Request for Proposal was put out. There were two bids received for the project and the City has awarded the project to Daniels Construction. The final hold up is the securing of funds for the project. I will continue to update you as I receive information.

I received the 2022 VLAP report from Sara Steiner at DES. This is a summary of all the water testing results gathered during June, July, August and September. Here is a “How to read your report” document.

Hope all is well with everyone.
Take care,
Val
