WLA Board Member Vacancies

Hello Everyone,

In August four terms will be expiring for WLA board members. Myself, Brian Campbell and Ted Starkweather have three-year terms expiring. All three of these board members expressed that they will not be running for reelection. Denis Duquette is finishing the one year term he was elected to last year. He would like to continue on the board. Hence I will be nominating him for my three year term at the annual meeting in August. That will leave Brian and Ted’s spots open.

If you are interested in becoming a WLA board member and be more involved in the association, please let me or any other board member know of your interest prior to the annual meeting in August. There can also be nominations from the floor at the meeting. Again there will be two three-year terms open.

As you know with my term expiring, the office of president of the WLA is open. No one had expressed an interest in this position until March. New board member Bruce Brown expressed that he would be interested in taking on this role. We met and he had a lot of his questions answered. At our recent WLA board meeting, this was discussed more and no other board members were interested in the presidency and had not received any interest from anyone else. Thus at the August board meeting, I will be nominating Bruce for the office of president.

A couple of Lake Hosts have been hired and hopefully we will have consistent coverage of the boat launch each weekend going forward. Thank you to volunteer Lake Hosts Linda Stronge and Maggie Lohman for covering some shifts in the interim.

You will be seeing a couple of emails following this one from the WLA 50th Anniversary committee. Thank you to Deb Parker and the committee for working hard to make this a great celebration. There have been a few inquiries as to which direction the boat parade will be going this year. It is an even year, thus the boats will be traveling in a clockwise direction from Griffin Beach toward the south end of the lake.

I am also looking for volunteers for the WLA Yard Sale on Saturday, July 13th. Please let me know if you would like to help set up, sell items, or do clean up.

With the heat this week, I hope you will all stay safe and cool,

Val
