End of Summer, NOOOO!

The past couple of days have certainly felt like Fall. It doesn’t seem possible that the calendar will soon change to September and Labor Day will be celebrated. However we know there are more nice days ahead to enjoy the lake. The WLA Ice Cream Social won’t be held this year but we will be having our Food Drive to help support the Twin Rivers Food Pantry. Donations to the Food Pantry will be most appreciated this year due to the pandemic. Yellow Food Drive Drop Off signs have been placed at the following locations, 68 Webster Ave – The Lorenze’s, 182 Webster Ave – The Perkins, 299 Webster Lake Rd – The Pelletier’s, and 143 Lake Shore Dr. – The Desharnais’s. You will be able to leave non perishable food items at these locations now through September 7th. We won’t be able to enjoy ice cream together, but what a great opportunity to help the Franklin community. Thank you in advance for participating.
The WLA Board of Directors will be holding their board meeting next Saturday, September 5th. Dates for next year’s activities will be set. If you have any new ideas you would like me to bring before the board, please let me know.
We have had some members utilize the option of online payment for their dues. Thank you and hope this option will be convenient for everyone to use. Go to http://www.websterlakenh.com, click on Membership, then click Pay dues Online with PayPal.  Our membership is made up of property owners on the lake, (voting members of WLA),  as well as those owning property on neighboring streets,(friends of WLA). In some instances, different family members may choose to support the WLA by paying dues/donations as well.  There are many people who enjoy the lake and all it has to offer. We appreciate and thank you all for the support given to the Webster Lake Association. Everyone who pays dues and gives us their contact information is kept informed via email and newsletters of happenings pertaining to the lake.
Many photos have been submitted to be considered for the WLA Photo Calendar. Thank you for capturing and sharing the beauty of the lake. If you haven’t submitted your favorite photo yet, photos will be accepted until Monday, September 7th. Please submit to nancy.wolcott.47@gmail.com.
Our “water testing experts” will be out on the lake September 3rd gathering samples for our final lake testing of the season. Once Sara Steiner sends me the season’s data in a year end report, I will share with you. The beaches have been testing much better in the past few weeks with no closures from E-coli. Whether it is the coyote or some other deterrent, the geese and ducks have not been as prevalent. I have not heard from any of our residents of possible cyanobacteria outbreaks. Keep your fingers crossed that we can avoid any through the rest of the season. Thank you to all of you for trying to live lake friendly and help preserve and protect this beautiful place.
Have a nice weekend and stay safe,

Val
