WLA Annual Meeting Update

Hello Everyone,

I am sending the minutes from our WLA Annual meeting held last Saturday. I also have included the final F/Y Treasurer’s report. Please read them over and feel free to ask me any questions.
We had approximately 27 people attend via Zoom, less than usually attend an in-person meeting. However I am appreciative of those who did take the time to “Zoom in”. We had enough people to make a quorum and were able to vote in Kim Bonin as our newest board member. Welcome Kim! We thank her for volunteering.

As mentioned in an earlier email, the WLA was able to secure a grant from DES to help with mitigating milfoil in Chance Pond. The diver has now spent 18 hours tackling this issue. The grant is approved for 35 hours and it was decided at the meeting that we will evaluate at the end of his time how to proceed next. The diver is reporting a greater amount of milfoil than originally mapped in the Spring. Those in attendance at the meeting felt it was in our best interest to do all that we can to stop the spread of this invasive species. We have received a donation from one of our members to specifically handle the milfoil issue. Their generosity is most appreciated and this donation will seed a fund set up for milfoil mitigation.

I am also happy to announce that your dues/donations are now able to be processed on our website using PayPal. Go to http://www.websterlakenh.com and click on the Membership heading, scroll down the page and click on the “Pay on-line with Pay Pal” button. You will be prompted to fill in the form. There is no need to set up a PayPal account if you do not have one, you may use your credit card. If you would like to make a donation in addition to your dues or donate at any other time of year, just click on the Donate to Webster Lake Association and you will be prompted from there. We are still working on coordinating your contact information from the membership form to your dues payment. Please keep us informed of any changes to your addresses, email and home, as well as phone numbers. If you have not paid your dues for this 20/21 season, you may want to try this option. Thank you Mark Field and John Miller for researching this topic and making it a possibility.

We will not be having our Ice Cream Social this year, however it would still be a nice community service endeavor to contribute to the local food pantry. We will be putting collection signs and bins at locations around the lake the week of August 31st – September 7th (Labor Day). These locations will be 68 Webster Ave, !82 Webster Ave and 143 Lake Shore Dr. We could possibly use another drop off location on Rt 11. Let me know if you would be willing to volunteer for this. As you clean out your kitchen cupboards, after a fun summer, please drop off any unwanted non perishable items at these locations. We will collect them at the end of the day on Labor Day and bring them to the Twin Rivers Food Pantry on Tuesday. Thank you for your support.

Remember the deadline for the Photo Calendar is Sept 7th. Please capture your favorite scene/activity of Webster Lake in any season and send it to nancy.wolcott.47@gmail.com.

This is shaping up to be one of the hottest summers we have had in recent years. Continue to enjoy the “Dog Days of Summer” in August and be safe.

Sincerely,
Val
