Linda Stronge, our coordinator of the Lake Host program for Webster Lake reports that Spiny flea has been detected in Newfound Lake. There is no remediation at this time. It is spotted by running your hand along a boat and it feels like sand paper…looks gummy on fishing lines. Our lake hosts will be vigilant especially when a boat has previously been in a lake where spiny flea has been detected. Please be alert to this invasive pest, and report citings to the lake hosts or the DES in Concord.
